Therapy shaped around your story

Therapy shaped around your story 〰️

No two people arrive at therapy the same way. Some come in the middle of a crisis. Some arrive after years of quietly carrying something too heavy. Some simply reach a moment where they know they deserve more clarity, more ease, more genuine connection.

Whatever has brought you here, my work begins with one commitment: to meet you exactly where you are. The services I offer are trauma-informed and relationally grounded, drawing from approaches that I know not just academically, but personally to create real and lasting change.

I offer both virtual and in-person sessions, serving clients throughout Halifax and across Nova Scotia.

Services

Individual Therapy

Sometimes the most radical thing we can do is turn toward ourselves with honesty, with compassion, and with the belief that healing is possible. That is what individual counselling offers: a dedicated space to explore your inner world at your own pace, with a therapist who is fully present alongside you.

I work with adults navigating a wide range of experiences from the acute weight of trauma and crisis, to the quieter, slower ache of anxiety, identity confusion, grief, or the sense that something in life has shifted but hasn't been named yet. My approach is not one-size-fits-all. It is collaborative, adaptive, and shaped by who you are.

MY MODALITIES — HOW WE ACTUALLY DO THE WORK

I draw from three core approaches in individual therapy, all of which I have experienced personally as a client. I do not offer these from a textbook distance. I offer them from lived understanding.

Brainspotting

Brainspotting works on the principle that where you look affects how you feel. By locating a specific eye position (a 'brainspot') that corresponds to a particular emotional or somatic experience, Brainspotting accesses the subcortical brain — the part that holds trauma below the level of language and conscious thought. It is a gentle and deeply effective approach for trauma, anxiety, and any experience that feels difficult to articulate but impossible to shake. Many clients describe Brainspotting as feeling seen in a way that words alone cannot achieve.

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

IFS invites you to understand yourself not as a single, fixed self, but as a system of parts — each with its own role, history, and wisdom. Some parts protect you fiercely. Some carry pain from the past. Some have been exiled because they felt too much or wanted too much. IFS helps you approach all of these parts with curiosity and compassion, rather than judgment or suppression. I completed IFS Level 1 training, and I find this model to be one of the most genuinely humanizing frameworks I have encountered — in my own healing and in the work I do with clients.

Relational Therapy

Every relationship carries its own language, patterns of connection and disconnection that have been built over time, often without either partner fully realizing it. Relational counselling is not about assigning blame or adjudicating who is right. It is about understanding the deeper architecture of your relationship: why the same arguments keep cycling, why closeness can feel frightening, why love sometimes feels like it is not enough.

I welcome couples of all genders, sexual orientations, and relationship structures including polyamorous, open, and ethically non-monogamous (ENM) partnerships who want to move through stuck patterns and toward something more honest, more tender, and more genuinely close.

MY APPROACH — RELATIONAL LIFE THERAPY (RLT)

I use Relational Life Therapy (RLT), developed by Terry Real, as the primary framework for couples work. RLT is direct, compassionate, and honest in a way that many approaches are not. It does not simply teach communication techniques. It gets underneath behaviour to the adaptive strategies, the protective walls, and the bids for connection that have been misread for years.

RLT holds a core belief: that full and loving intimacy is possible and it requires both partners to be willing to look honestly at themselves, not just at each other. I bring warmth and deep respect to this process, while also being willing to be honest when honesty is what serves the relationship most.

My training also includes the Gottman Method and Integrative Sex and Couples Therapy, which enrich how I understand relational dynamics, sexual intimacy, and the science of what makes relationships last.
